Nearly 100 people claimed to have seen a cylindrical object with a flaming orange tail moving over the western part of the city of Shanghai, China, for about an hour on Thursday, 2nd of December, 1999. Several of the city's usually conservative newspapers ran the story on their front pages.

No official explanation has been offered so far.
